Just a heads up viewers. According to Lindesfarne's latest Virtual Quill entry, she's only got one month left; http://virtual-quill.tumblr.com/post/163040308842/more-camping

Best keep an eye on this comic for now...

I don't get that. Is that a Simpsons or Family Guy episode title plot?

Nevertheless, regarding to what that's said in today's strip; http://www.kevinandkell.com/2017/kk0719.html I just hope nothing's going to happen to make Lindesfarne go into labor early....

Well, that's one breaking water I don't think anybody was expecting; http://www.kevinandkell.com/2017/kk0721.html

Oh boy. I hope they'll both be able to float, if they can't actually swim, what with Limdesfarne's extra weight and Fenton's cast...

Saved from a watery demise; http://www.kevinandkell.com/2017/kk0722.html and unplanned waterbirth and now this; http://www.kevinandkell.com/2017/kk0723.html

Oh boy, things are starting to look very biblical now...

(I wonder if there are any other insectivores in the camp, otherwise Lindesfarne & Fenton are going to gorge themselves silly - and there's hardly enough room in Lindesfarne's belly as it is right now...)

((Also, I hope that puddle's from them drying off, or we'll be having a repeat of Rosalind's labour in Safe Havens back in '15; http://safehavenscomic.com/comics/october-3-2015/))

Well, that's all over; http://www.kevinandkell.com/2017/kk0803.html (for now in any case)...

And it looks like Lindesfarne's shirt's stretched in the water (it was only as far as her knees last time)

And talking of her, as Lindesfarne approaches the end of her pregnancy this month, I has some more dreams about it on Sunday 30th-Monday 31st June. (I'd've written this sooner, but I was waiting for a strip in which she'd appear in or it might've seemed irrelevant to the strips on those dates)

This is probably because I'm on tenderhooks with what's happening to her and Fenton at camp, and keen to know what's going to occur next, or how her labor'll will go.

These were only brief snippets, and I can't remember the entire dream or what the whole dream strips were about, but I'll give it a shot.

1. In the first dream strip, the Dewclaw Family had just helped save a nesting bird of a rare breed from predators, and now she's living in a hollow in a tree. In the second-to-last panel, Dewclaws have gather around and are peering in through the hole. In the last panel, the mother bird is sitting nest-side (not on the eggs), knitting like Aura did here; http://www.kevinandkell.com/1997/kk0512.html , with two eggs in the nest, one red, one powder blue. And the background is the hole, with the Dewclaws looking in, rather hazy and yellowish - almost as if they were looking through a glass window. It was very much like the layout of a Christmas card.

2. In the second strip, Lindesfarne is in her bathroom, preparing for bed. She's dressed in dark blue pyjamas with white bird/cloud pattern (wasn't too sure on that, but similar to those worn by George here; http://www.kevinandkell.com/2017/kk0715.html ) and pink fuzzy slippers, however her belly was not so big, possibly somewhere in her 5-6th month. Coney in second panel, fully dressed in her dark pink sweater & black trousers, asking Lindesfarne something as she flosses in the mirror (can't remember what that was either). Third panel shows Lindesfarne & Fenton in bed (Lindesfarne is sleeping on the left, facing the viewers, and Fenton's on right) and Lindesfarne asks "Has my water broken yet?" to which Fenton replies "Nope".

3. In the last one, it was just 1 large panel, consisting of just a dark blue background. Lindesfarne, massively pregnant & still in camping clothes, is lowering herself into a bright orange arm chair (a pose simpler to one of Danielle's towards end of her pregnancy; http://www.kevinandkell.com/2006/kk1008.html - 5th panel, but facing the right side of the frame) helped by Fenton (who's now taken his cast off his wing) and there's a loud "POP" behind them, in huge bold font (possibly either Berlin Sans FB, Forte, Jokerman or Showcard Gothic*) with a red-&-yellow fused colouring, indicating that possibly her water has broken...

Odd, eh?

I know Bill usually writes his comics two months in advance of the strip, but do you think I might be visualising what he might have in mind?

Let me know what you think.

http://www.kevinandkell.com/2017/kk0805.html

Oh boy, looks like this is it!

I just hope it wasn't the flurry of activity here that triggered it. Or perhaps what I said on 23rd July was true; https://disqus.com/home/discussion/kevinandkell/sunday_jul_23_2017_kevin_kell/#comment-3431059711 or perhaps her water broke during the flash flood; http://www.kevinandkell.com/2017/kk0721.html & http://www.kevinandkell.com/2017/kk0722.html and neither of them noticed...

After all, it hasn't been the first time a flash flood has synchronised labor; http://onthefastrack.com/comics/august-26-2001/

(I wonder if it will be like Danielle's and last a week worth of strips...or will it be more?)

Just a little Factoid, FYI this made me think of.

Contrary to what Dramatic TV and Movie Scenes would have you believe, very Rarely does labor BEGIN with a dramatic water breaking.  In most cases, contractions will begin Hours before the amniotic sack ruptures, and the 'water breaking' may not occur until near the end.  Sometimes, it will even be so stubborn, the doctor/midwife will need to manually rupture it to help things along.  On very, very rare occasion, it will actually remain in-tact right up until birth, resulting in the child being born 'en-caul', much like the way many smaller mammals are born.

Most commonly,  the Water Breaking will occur as a slower current, rather than a big gush, shortly before 'transition' occurs (often being the trigger of it), where contractions change from Preparing to PUSHING Contractions, and labor becomes much more Intense.

Well, it's official - Lindesfarne's labor and the baby's on the way!; http://www.kevinandkell.com/2017/kk0807.html

Ha, I knew something like that was bound to happen! And I was right to boot! (Again, like those of Rosalind's and Ming & Jenny's in Safe Havens, it's a case of labor ahead of schedule. And like I've said before, none of us can be like Danielle when it comes to exact calculated timing)

It's just too bad we didn't see much of Joan's maternity outfits she made for Lindesfarne; http://www.kevinandkell.com/2017/kk0221.html, http://www.kevinandkell.com/2017/kk0323.html & http://www.kevinandkell.com/2017/kk0324.html

(I wonder if Joan made any labor-day wear for her - and so, did Lindesfarne pack it, along with a birthing kit?)

And speaking of labor, can anybody else imagine Lindesfarne, possibly in mid-contraction or mid-delivery, grabbing hold of the front of Fenton's shirt, shaking him violently and yelling "YOU OWE ME RESTITUTION!!!" like Sally did with Linus for having made her spend Halloween in the pumpkin patch...?

And finally, Happy International Elephant Day! I'm sure if Lindesfarne wasn't in labor, that's probably how she'd be feeling about now...(after all, many mothers-to-be in the late stages of pregnancy often complain about looking and feeling like a beached whale)

Well, there comes quite a surprise here; http://www.kevinandkell.com/2017/kk0808.html

Next thing to do is the following;

1) Get back to the tent or camp infirmary to have the baby.

2) Find Coney and tell her niece is about to arrive into the world, then tell her to contact Kevin & Kell telling them to get there. Let's just hope history doesn't repeat itself to stop them arriving in time like it did with Danielle; http://kevinandkell.com/2006/kk1101.html

Nice BBC title reference, BTW...

A "Midwife" is still a common profession, not just the title of a tv series.

Oh, I do know that. (Mind you, some folks find it funny for there to be a male midwife, even in this day and age)
